Monthly Meetings 2012-13

Monthly meetings and educational programs are held at 9:30 am on the first Tuesday of the month in the Garden Center at Zilker Botanical Garden, 2220 Barton Springs Road, across from Zilker Park. Members provide herb-infused tastings, tea and coffee. Admission is free for members. The public is welcome. A $3.00 donation from guests and visitors is suggested.

"Holiday Wreaths & Table Arrangements" Get a jumpstart on your holiday decor with beautiful and fragrant “herb-centric” wreaths and table arrangements demonstrated by floral and interior design specialist and educator Pat Shirley Becker, A.I.F.D., C.F.D. & T.M.F.A.. She is past president of Texas State Florists’ Association. Members are asked to bring herbs from their home gardens for use in the arrangements.

Annual Holiday Bazaar featuring holiday teas and refreshments along with handmade gifts, décor and food items created by AHS sponsors and members

"Yoga for Gardeners" will feature demonstrations as well as a discussion on the spiritual aspects of plants, presented by Eastside Yoga owner Steven Ross

May 7, 2013
"Cool Herbs for Hot Texas Summers," presented by Gabriel Valley Farms owner and AHS sponsor Cathy Slaughter, who will also offer herbs for purchase

June 4, 2013
"The Magic of French Lavender," presented by AHS sponsor Andra Millian, owner of Austin Onsite Acupuncture & Nutrition

Annual member roundtable on gardening tips, herbal recipes and remedies, society news and ideas for the upcoming year

Provide charitable and volunteer support to community gardens, city parks, elementary schools and community projects.
