Shop for organic herbs and vegetables, cookbooks, aprons, jewelry, bamboo products, garden markers as well as lotions, teas and tinctures made with herbs. Enjoy educational workshops and garden tours!
The Austin Herb Society’s Spring Plant Sale will have the usual organic herbs and vegetables Austin gardeners have come to count on.
But there’s a whole lot more in store for shoppers on April 25, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Zilker Botanical Garden.
In addition to the wide selection of ORGANIC herbs and vegetables at the great price of $2.50 each, there will be:
Education sessions led by long-time herb society members
Booths offering artisan products by local artists with items to decorate your garden and pamper yourself
Guided tours of the herb garden that is marking its second anniversary in a new location!
The Austin Herb Society will also be featuring its Cooking with Herbs series.
These beautiful Herb Guides describe the history of the plant, uses in cooking and health, and recipes “thyme-tested” in our members’ kitchens.
The selection of herbs will include varieties of those the cookbooks focus on, such as lemon thyme and lavender thyme, Thai and African basil, and mint to use in everything from mojitos to Armenian pesto.
A new item this year is our specialty boxes – these boxes include five herbs and a packet of fertilizer, and sell for $10 each.
Choose from Beginner’s Box, Kitchen Garden, and You Say Tomato which mixes three types of tomatoes with the perfect herb accompaniment.
Four education sessions give you an opportunity to learn how to use herbs. These four mini-sessions run up to 15 minutes each, and are provided by our veteran herb growers.

Our main project is the support of the Herb Garden in Zilker Botanical Garden.
Come see the herb garden in its new location.
We’ll have guided tours of the Herb Garden leaving from the Education Tent at 11 a.m., 12 and 1 p.m. Plan to walk around and see herbs in the garden – then be inspired to get some plants to take home to start or add to your own home garden.
Event is free.
A park entrance fee is required. Fees are $2 per adult, $1 per child (ages 3-12) or seniors (age 62 & over), and $3 for non-Austin Residents.
